If you are looking for a unique vacation experience, plan a stay in a merridale yurt. Spend a relaxing few days at merridale with a true country getaway.
“What is a yurt?” you may ask. A yurt is a portable, round dwelling used by the nomadic groups of Central Asia. Traditionally, the structure is a crown supported by roof ribs, which are bent down at the end to meet the lattice wall, and then covered with a felt cover. Yurts have been around for at least three thousand years, and are known for their spiritual and calming benefits.
Merridale’s two yurts are one room cabins that let you experience the peacefulness of the rural landscape. Unwind with a soak in the tub or with the gentle warmth of the fireplace as the sounds of nature lull you to sleep. This is farm land so you may see cows, hear roosters, and all the other happiness of the countryside. The next morning, you can look forward to a short walk up to our bistro for breakfast of fresh coffee or tea and fresh baked goods from our wood-fire brick oven.
Hardwood floors, tranquil countryside setting, and one of a kind views of the apple orchard, pond, and pasture.
Our larger yurt features a queen-sized canopy bed; a clawfoot bathtub (so you can gaze at the rolling pasture); separate two-piece bathroom; open front patio; gas fireplace; electric kettle.
Our smaller yurt features a double bed; separate bathroom with enclosed shower; covered back patio; gas fireplace; electric kettle. Single or double occupancy only.
Availability: April to October, weather dependent.
Double Occupancy: Yurts comfortably accommodate two people. An air mattress may be added to the large yurt for 1-2 additional guests if arranged in advance; additional charges apply.
Breakfast: Add a farmhouse breakfast to your yurt stay for $15 per person. Freshly baked goods—made in our brick oven—plus coffee, tea and juice, yogurt, fruit and granola are served up at the bistro at 9:30am.
Yurt Access: The yurts are not vehicle accessible allowing for a restful experience. Guests will need to park in our main parking lot and walk past the bistro and down the hill to the pond and yurt area. If you have mobility issues, it's best to check in with us before booking.
Pets: We love our dogs and we want your dog to enjoy merridale too. If you want to bring your furry friend, please ask about our pet policy.
Other notes: The yurts are not equipped with cooking facilities or fridges. We offer a shared cooler on the back patio for items you may wish to keep cold. In keeping with the idea of a relaxing stay, there is no wifi access in the yurts; there is wifi up at the ciderhouse. It's an opportunity to "unplug"!
